The gaming world as it relates to smartphones and tablets continues to offer more proof of it's relevance in the consumer marketplace. Sony Computer Entertainment in a recent press release announced that as of April 1st, a new company called ForwardWorks Corporation is being established by Sony in order to produce games for mobile devices. Sony isn’t new to the world of mobile gaming having previously used its PlayStation brand to produce and promote games on smartphones.
Watch the press conference at which Sony finally announced its arrival in the tablet game. The Sony Tablet S and Sony Tablet P Android tablets will integrate with other Sony products - so for example consumers can use them as a remote control for their TV. They've also been described as 'the dream tablet for gamers'. Sony may be late to the game, but its used that time to come up with an innovative and interesting design that may yet win a following.
Disappointed Blackberry users heard from Research in Motion founder and co-CEO Mike Lazaridis at the start of Blackberrys developer conference in San Francisco Tuesday. Lazaridis offered a quick, apologetic reference to the service outage that customers suffered through last week. Customers had reported not being able to make calls or send e-mails for days.

Sony's CEO Howard Stringer appeared alongside his incoming replacement at a press conference in Tokyo. Kazuo Hirai, who currently heads the company's core consumer products division, will take over in April, at the start of the new fiscal year.
