Eyeing Moon, NASA hosts first public astronaut graduation ceremony


NASA celebrates its latest class of graduating astronauts at a public ceremony in Houston, honoring a diverse and gender-balanced group now qualified for spaceflight missions including America's return to the Moon and eventual journey to Mars.

  • Feud Between Buzz Aldrin And His Children Escalates

    According to Buzzfeed, former NASA astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon, will reportedly undergo a mental competency examination as part of lawsuit against his children over control of his legacy. The 88-year-old filed a lawsuit this month alleging “improprieties” involving fraudulent transfers of hundreds of thousands of dollars by his son Andrew Aldrin, head of the private Buzz Aldrin Enterprises firm and the nonprofit Buzz Aldrin Space Foundation. In response to the suit, Andrew and his sister Janice Aldrin are asking that their father undergo a mental competency exam, which Aldrin's lawyers say he will comply with.

  • University Students To Evaluate Designs In NASA’s Astronaut Training Pool

    Thirty-one student teams from across the country will test their designs in simulated microgravity this year as part of NASA’s Micro-g Neutral Buoyancy Experiment Design Teams activity. The second test session will be June 5-10. The Micro-g NExT experience includes hands-on engineering design, test operations and educational/public outreach. Professional divers will test the spacewalk tools as students direct them from the Test Conductor Room overlooking the NBL pool.
