France was hit by more flooding Wednesday as heavy rains continued to fall across large swathes of the country, leaving the River Seine in Paris overflowing and water lapping at the doors of one of the Loire Valley’s most famous chateaux
The level of the Seine remains high in Paris with highs exceeding 4.50m due to the recent heavy rains. The riverbanks seen from the Île de la Cité, normally popular with pedestrians, are flooded, with benches and trees partially submerged.
Paris remained on flood alert on Tuesday with the River Seine's water levels still on the rise following heavy spells of rain.
