Niger: demonstrators gather in the capital in support of the coup


Thousands of people gather in Niger's capital to support the coup that toppled the democratically elected government, as Western countries grow increasingly concerned about regional security. In the heart of Niamey, demonstrators, some waving giant Russian flags, chant anti-French slogans at a rally to mark the anniversary of the West African country's independence from France in 1960.
