Basketball star Brittney Griner has been sent to a remote Russian penal colony and has started serving her sentence. The IK-2 penal colony is in the town of Yavas in the central region of Mordovia - a few hundred kilometres southeast of Moscow - known for its harsh climate. Actor and stand-up comedian Dustin Diamond has been hospitalized with cancer. Diamond is best known for playing the role of Samuel 'Screech' Powers on the popular 1990s high school comedy 'Saved by the Bell.' Besides writing a controversial tell-all about his time on the show, Diamond has also faced some legal troubles. According to CNN, he served three months in jail for stabbing a man during a 2014 altercation at a bar in Wisconsin. Diamond's representative says his client's health condition is 'serious,' and that he is undergoing testing to determine the type and severity of the cancer.
Hong Kong, Dec 2 (EFE/EPA).- A Hong Kong court sentenced activist Joshua Wong to 13 and a half months in prison for organizing an "unauthorized assembly" in 2019 that ended the siege of the city's police headquarters.Activists Agnes Chow and Ivan Lam were also sentenced to 10 and seven months in prison, respectively, having also been in custody since Nov. 23 in a detention center in the city while waiting for the court’s decision.
