It's been a busy winter for Automobili Lamborghini, which has been clocking up kilometers on roads all over Europe. Amidst breathtaking scenery and evocative locations, the super sports cars from Sant'Agata Bolognese took on Europe's most beautiful routes through sun, rain, snow and ice, always guaranteeing the highest levels of performance and driving enjoyment.In January a convoy of Urus Performante, Urus S, Huracán STO and Huracán Tecnica paraded along the snowy roads between Denmark and Sweden, delighting onlookers in the fairy-tale setting. The activity wasn’t just focused on the roar of Lamborghini engines however: as often happens during Lamborghini events, driving is combined with unique experiences that remain etched in the memory of those who experience them. The event in Scandinavia made a stop in the evocative Tower of 'The Plant', a converted factory in which containers were built for years and then transformed into a paper mill. While able to take a look at the Huracán Sterrato, guests were intrigued by chef Mattia Risaliti explaining the similarities between culinary art and various aspects in which absolute excellence is expressed in all its forms, a synthesis of Lamborghini's brand philosophy.
A Courchevel winter escape saw the lifestyle Urus S starring in the luxury resort together with the Huracán Sterrato: the first all-terrain super sports car with a V10 engine. The two Lamborghini models covered over 200 kilometres in one of the world’s largest linked ski area, Les Trois Vallées. A watchmaking experience with Roger Dubuis, Lamborghini Squadra Corse partner, demonstrated what it means to build horological masterpieces, highlighting the new Excalibur Spider Monobalancier Huracán.Guests stayed in one of the world's best resorts, the ultra-exclusive Le K2 Palace, reflecting the luxury features that distinguish Automobili Lamborghini in the world of super sports cars. The hotel, a jewel in the Himalayan-inspired "Le K2 Collections", is framed by the mountains and perfectly integrated into the landscape. The hotel overlooks the Trois Vallées offering incredible panoramic views and direct access to the ski slopes. Guests dined in L’Altitude and Bottkeneck restaurants, with their Tibetan–inspired decor combining charm and excellence and a culinary experience combining a reinvention of traditional French cuisine; the best artisan French cheeses; and extraordinary dessert creations that resonate with gourmets around the world.
Mercedes-Benz tested the latest generation of brake control systems on drives in Arjeplog, Sweden, near the Arctic Circle. For more than 20 years, an official branch of the Sindelfingen plant has existed here: its very own test centre for testing in the most extreme conditions. In addition to the EQE, EQS, EQS SUV and EQE SUV, models of future vehicle generations based on future platforms were also used in the drives across a frozen lake and up the region’s highest mountain.“During the test drives, our team is primarily concerned with safety, efficiency and driving comfort. The purpose of this second round of testing in Sweden was to fine-tune all powertrain and chassis control systems. Thanks to their low-grip surfaces, the test areas sited on frozen lakes around Arjeplog were particularly well suited for delicately adjusting the drive torque control system in the BMW i5 under precisely reproducible conditions. In the new BMW i5, the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system, the near-actuator wheel slip limitation function and the drive torque control system are interlinked so that they can interact and complement each other flexibly in any driving situation. As a result, the all-electric sedan performs at least as proficiently as any conventionally powered model on ice and snow.The integrated application of all powertrain and chassis systems underpins the outstanding handling abilities displayed by the BMW i5 in winter testing. The more challenging the conditions, the more impressive were the speed and precision of the control systems in the fully electric version of the new BMW 5 Series Sedan. The BMW i5 serves up a harmonious blend of optimum traction when pulling away and supreme driving stability when cornering or braking, which is unique in the competitive environment.
