The United States announces an "emergency package of security assistance of $300 million" to Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has never asked for Western troops to fight Russia's invasion, the White House says after French President Emmanuel Macron said he would not rule out the idea. "President Zelensky isn't asking for that, he's just asking for the tools and capabilities. Ukraine's embattled frontline town of Avdiivka is in danger of being captured by Russian forces, the White House says, urging the US House to pass vital military aid for Kyiv. The White House applauds the adoption of the foreign aid legislation and urges the US lower House to approve the long-delayed funding for Ukraine's war efforts against Russia.
