Until a few years ago the Tokyo Motor Show was one of Asia’s most important motor shows. But the boom in China has meant the show in the Japanese capital has been relegated to the second division. Nevertheless, there are some interesting premieres to marvel at this year.
Audi revealed its luxurious Aicon concept car at the IAA 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show on Wednesday. The futuristic Aicon concept has no steering wheel or pedals, instead of driving autonomously while the driver sits back and relaxes on one of the interior swivel chairs. Audi's Aicon concept is a fully electric vehicle which can travel up to 500 miles on a single charge. The vehicle uses advanced artificial intelligence to navigate while also getting information from the driver using eye tracking and gesture controls.
Japanese car-manufacturer Toyota showcased their rugged FT-4X concept SUV at the New York International Auto Show on Wednesday. The adventurous auto has been designed with Millennials in mind and has been described as a 'rugged rolling toolbox.' It has interior door handles that double as water bottles, warm and cool storage boxes, a ceiling-mounted flashlight and a sleeping bag that fits between the seats and serves as an armrest. Happy adventures, millenials!
US automaker Chevrolet unveiled their new Camaro, the 2017 Z/28, which premiered at the New York International Auto Show on Wednesday. Just like the original Camaro, Chevy's newest road monster is designed for adrenaline rushes with performance in mind, but it can easily play nice on the city streets thanks to adjustable suspension.
Police sirens could be heard blaring through Downtown Manhattan as the new Nissan Police Pursuit 23 made its way to the New York International Auto Show, on Wednesday. The 565-horsepower 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 can power the monstrous vehicle to reach speeds of up to 196 miles per hour and rocket the car from 0 to 60 in 2.7 seconds, so it's no wonder that Nissan's new 'crime-busting' GT-R sports car has been dubbed 'Copzilla'.
