Samsung Recalls Exploding Washing Machines

Description

On Friday, Samsung announced that it was recalling 2.8 million top-load washing machines, after reports of "impact injuries" that included a broken jaw. The issue stems from unbalanced drums. The drums can separate from the washer and produce enough internal force to make other parts of the washer detach. In some cases, they’ve even been launched out of the machine. Samsung is also the subject of an August lawsuit from owners who said their machines "explode during normal use.” The company has advised customers to use a lower spin speed.
