Legends are made by performance. Since its market launch in 1995, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has given its name to an entire vehicle class thanks to its outstanding qualities. Today the third generation of this best-selling van is celebrating its world premiere in the newly constructed Mercedes-Benz logistics centre on the Mercator island in Duisburg. It can now be ordered in Germany at a price from 19,990 euros (price excluding VAT). It will be available in the Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle centres and Van ProCenters from June. The new eSprinter will enter the market in 2019. It is part of the strategy of Mercedes-Benz Vans for electrification of the commercial van fleet. Panel van, Tourer, pickup, chassis, bus or traction head as body types, three drive configurations, cab designs, body lengths, tonnages, load compartment heights and equipment features: these parameters alone allow a further increase in the number of possible Sprinter variants. More than 1,700 different versions can be configured as a result. This maximised modularity defines the core of the new Sprinter concept, reflecting both sector-specific requirements and different customer segments. The product range includes e.g. solutions for courier services on the last mile delivery, for goods transport over longer distances or for service technicians using their vehicle as a mobile replacement parts store. The new Sprinter can also be put to work as a camper van or bus, and for example is used as an ambulance by rescue services.

The new Sprinter impresses with numerous equipment features and operating concepts that raise the large van segment to a new level.. Outstanding new features include the new MBUX multimedia systems (Mercedes-Benz User Experience), the control and display concept in the cockpit, ergonomically shaped seats and the latest assistance systems.

Mercedes-Benz Vans wants to further expand its position as a leading manufacturer of premium vans. In doing so, the company is consolidating a decisive competitive advantage: the customised diversity of its portfolio for commercial and private use – offering a range of fully electric and conventionally powered vehicles in the small, midsize, and large van segments. The introduction of the modular and scalable Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA) from 2026 marks the gradual transition to a focused premium strategy for commercial vans. The new Vito, eVito, Sprinter and eSprinter light commercial vehicles are a key step on this journey. They offer more comfort, safety, and functionality, especially thanks to a plus in intelligent, digital networking. This sets the course for further growth at the upper end of their respective segments.
Van life is booming. Over the past years, Mercedes‑Benz Vans has successfully established itself in all motorhome categories with its base vehicles, and with the new Citan, which has been available to order since mid-September, the brand with the three-pointed star has laid the foundation for further growth. The new Citan allows Mercedes‑Benz Vans to make the most of the versatile possibilities in the increasingly popular micro-camper conversions sector. This will be demonstrated shortly by SORTIMO Switzerland at the Suisse Caravan Salon in Bern, starting on 28 October. SORTIMO Switzerland will be presenting the new Citan with a roof tent and a multifunction box equipped with a kitchen and bed unit at the Mercedes‑Benz exhibition stand. And there are further conversion solutions based on the new Citan on the market, for instance from VanEssa mobilcamping. The increase in popularity of micro-campers has a number of reasons: they are comparatively cheaper in terms of acquisition costs; their often modular conversion concept enables flexible installation and removal; thanks to their compact exterior dimensions they are easy to operate; and their weight of under 3.5 tonnes means they can be driven on a regular category B driving licence. With qualities like these, micro-campers have an increasing fan base, especially among young van lifers.
Compact external dimensions coupled with a generous amount of space and a high load capacity open up a diverse range of applications for the new Mercedes-Benz Citan, especially in inner-city delivery and service provision operations. It is available both as a Panel Van and a Tourer. Wide-opening sliding doors on the left and right sides of the vehicle, as well as a low loading sill optionally enable comfortable access to the interior and easy loading of the vehicle. Inside, passengers will enjoy the comfortable seats of the Citan Tourer. In addition to its high functionality and variability, the vehicle provides comprehensive safety equipment and a high level of driving comfort. The new Citan compact van can be ordered from mid-September 2021 with a starting price expected to be less than 23,800 euros. The net list price of the basic model is thus anticipated to start at less than 20,000 euros.
