A four-door sports car has been added to the new BMW 8 Series range. With its standalone body concept, plus powertrain and chassis technology designed squarely to engender supreme dynamic ability, the new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe embodies a brand of sporting flair unique in the luxury segment. Joining the BMW 8 Series Coupe and BMW 8 Series Convertible as the third model in the 8 Series range, the Gran Coupe has a character all of its own, combining smile-inducing performance and design shaped by dynamism and elegance with significantly increased spaciousness for passengers in the rear seats. BMW introduced the all-new 2019 BMW 8 Series Coupe. Initially available as the BMW M850i xDrive variant, the coupe makes its return to the U.S. after 20 years and writes a new chapter in the luxury sports coupe’s story of outstanding performance, beautiful design and state of the art technology.The new luxury sports coupe will be built at the BMW Dingolfing plant in Germany, home to BMW 7 Series sedan production. The number ‘8’ in the model name indicates the new vehicle’s high-ranking status within BMW’s product range. As in the past with the BMW Z8 and with the current BMW i8, it is reserved for exceptionally sporty cars that stir the emotions. The all-new BMW 8 Series Coupe is the first key component of the Munich-based brand’s luxury segment model offensive.The directive for the all-new BMW 8 Series Coupe’s design was to provide a thrilling driving experience. Body, powertrain and suspension were honed to achieve the agility, precision and poise expected of a top-class luxury sports coupe. The all-new BMW 8 Series Coupe was developed in parallel to the BMW M8 GTE race car, which has already proven its potential in the 2018 FIA World Endurance Championship long-distance races and in the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

The new BMW 8-Series Convertible blends ultra-sporty driving properties with distinctive design elegance and an extremely exclusive taste of driving pleasure in an open-top four-seater. The newly developed soft-top roof enhances the two-door car's low, sporting lines when closed - and its sweeping elegance once open. The powertrain and chassis technology developed for the BMW 8-Series was tuned on the race track as well as the road. It serves up impressive performance attributes and peerless levels of poise and assurance, all of which are experienced with even greater intensity when the sun and wind are invited in. Model-specific equipment features designed to enhance comfort and state-of-the-art innovations when it comes to control & operation, driver assistance and connectivity serve up an open-top experience as modern as it is luxurious.The growth of the BMW 8-Series range to include an open-top sports car for the luxury segment once again augments the brand's presence in this vehicle class. The expansion of its luxury car portfolio is one of the future-focused areas the BMW Group has identified - as part of its NUMBER ONE > NEXT strategy - to secure the company's long-term growth. The distinctive character profile of the new BMW 8-Series Convertible allows it to put down a particularly attractive marker in this market segment and win over new target groups in the process. The open-top model will be produced alongside the BMW 8-Series Coupe at BMW Plant Dingolfing. The Bavarian facility is the traditional birthplace of the BMW 7-Series Sedan and boasts outstanding expertise in the manufacture of luxury cars. The worldwide market launch of the new BMW 8-Series Convertible will begin in March 2019.
The BMW M Performance model that will be available from launch provides a particularly impressive demonstration of the new BMW 8-Series Coupe's sporting essence. Under the bonnet of the BMW M850i xDrive Coupe lies a 390 kW/530 hp V8 engine that has undergone extensive refinement and produces formidable power. It serves up a particularly intense form of the unmistakable power delivery and acoustics of eight-cylinder units and is every bit as captivating and emotionally thrilling as the car it powers. The second engine available at market launch clearly demonstrates the long-distance prowess of the new BMW 8-Series Coupe. The 235 kW/320 hp six-cylinder in-line diesel engine in the BMW 840d xDrive Coupe combines instantaneous pulling power with exemplary efficiency that greatly reduces the number of refuelling stops necessary when touring. Both engines transfer their power to a latest-generation eight-speed Steptronic transmission that boasts a wider gear ratio spread and even sportier gear shifts and can be operated by means of shift paddles on the steering wheel. Completing the all-round package for supreme driving dynamics is the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system, which is also fitted in a newly improved version that has been tuned for this specific model. The rear-wheel bias of the xDrive system and the rear differential lock fitted as standard on the BMW M850i xDrive Coupe ensure maximum agility and precision when the car's sporting capabilities are being put to the test.
The BMW X2 is the car that first introduced the vehicle concept of a Sports Activity Coupé (SAC) for the premium compact segment. And now the even more distinctive, even sportier and even more forward-looking second generation is taking to the stage. Significantly larger dimensions and a pronounced coupé silhouette clearly showcase in its exterior design the development leap taken by the new BMW X2. The progressive character of the new model is also evident in the fully electric BMW iX2 variant, as well as in a large spread of systems enabling automated driving and parking, and in the innovative digital services laid on by the new BMW iDrive with QuickSelect and BMW Operating System 9.
