    One farmer paid tribute to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics by creating his own 'Olympic competition' - a piglet triathlon. The two-month-old little swines competed in a triathlon where they dived and raced across a specially-made obstacle course at Green Island Farm in Zhangjiakou. Tourists seemed impressed by the athletic prowess of the cute porkers, while organisers hope that events like these could make more tourists visit the town.

    Sadly for 'Curly', the curling-playing robot, it wasn't his time for triumph on Thursday, when the artificial intelligence (AI) machine lost a game to his human competitors in the South Korean city of Icheon. The Ministry of Science and ICT hosted the competition between two robots, both named Curly, and a team of their human counterparts. Despite losing, both robots showed signs of being able to formulate strategy and to showcase evolving levels of skill.

    US cross-country skier Kikkan Randall, who is also the only mother on the team, became the first American athlete ever to receive a gold medal for Olympic cross-country skiing. On Wednesday, Randall won the Team Sprint Free Final race along with her partner Jessica Diggins, clocking the 7.5 km-long hilly track in 16.22.56. Randall is the only mother on the US team, as well as one of the first women to compete in five editions of the Olympic Games.

  • 2019 Winter Olympic Games Torch Relay First Ever to Feature Robot Torchbearer

    Hubo the humanoid robot took part in the 2019 Winter Olympic Games torch relay in the South Korean city of Daejon on Monday, becoming the first robot to have the honor. The robot crashed through a brick wall to show his stronger side as part of the relay ceremony before passing the flame on to Dr Oh Jun Ho. South Korea has announced plans to employ a fleet of 85 robots ‘volunteers’ in the Winter Olympics. Eleven different types of robots are set to be used for various tasks during the games, including helping tourists make deliveries, painting murals and taking part in the torch rally.
