CUPRA has revealed the future of the brand – which was establsihed just four years’ ago – with three new electrified models joining the line-up by 2025.To date, the brand has delivered close to 200,000 units while its turnover has grown from 430 million euros in 2018 to almost 2.2 billion euros in 2021, far beyond all expectations. In 2022, CUPRA intends to double its sales, turnover and global network of City Garages.By 2025 CUPRA will have entered a new era with three new electrified models – CUPRA Terramar, CUPRA Tavascan and CUPRA UrbanRebel – as well as renewing its current product line-up.
The CUPRA Tavascan is the first hero of a new era for the challenger brand. Derived directly from the Tavascan showcar unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2019, where it was presented as “the brand’s dream”, it brings the disruptive and unique vision of an all-electric future to the market.The CUPRA Tavascan takes the brand’s electrification journey in a new direction with an exponential impulse to create emotional vehicles that break conventional rules and deliver for a new generation of car lovers.The CUPRA Tavascan brings together a fully electric SUV coupe that merges desirability and instantaneous performance. The SUV coupe embodies CUPRA’s electrified vision while remaining faithful to the 2019 concept car.
The CUPRA Born is the unconventional challenger, delivering electrifying performance using the most advanced electric powertrain technology, seamlessly augmenting the spirit of the CUPRA brand with an electrified future.The CUPRA Born forms the next stage of the brand’s development, and as the industry shifts to a more environmentally conscious position, electrification is key. CUPRA has already invested heavily in the technology, bringing the plug-in hybrid versions of CUPRA Leon, CUPRA Leon Sportstourer and CUPRA Formentor models to the market. The new era is also fully electric.The CUPRA Born integrates the most advanced pure electric powertrain technology: a choice of 150PS (110kW) or 204PS (150kW) electric engines deliver energy to the rear wheels, coupled to a high-performance lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of up to 58kWh provides an enormous range of around 420km. It doesn’t stop there, it goes beyond.
Below the CUPRA signature styled headlights are two air intakes that emphasise the vehicle’s more aggressive face. The carbon fibre lateral front splitter redirect air into the intercoolers, improving refrigeration.The side shape of the high-performance crossover coupe specifies the power found under the bonnet and the overall dynamism of the vehicle and with the addition of flared wheel arches – housing the vehicles wider track – that are home to the VZ5’s 20” copper machined alloy wheels, designed exclusively for the vehicle along with the 18” Akebono waved brakes in copper, the VZ5 exudes dynamism.The elegant yet strong design continues at the rear. The CUPRA Formentor VZ5 is undoubtedly a performance car, and the VZ5-specific carbon fibre rear diffuser and diagonal quad exhaust pipes with copper trim reinforce its personality. Finally, the CUPRA Formentor VZ5 carries the CUPRA lettering in Black Chrome, as well as a new exclusive logo VZ5, also in black chromed.
